The Agus River Basin is a lifeline for the communities and industries that depend on it. However, the challenges it faces are real and pressing. Climate change and water pollution threaten the sustainability of this precious resource. To address these issues, the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) and CEST Incorporated have launched the Comprehensive Water Resources Assessment (CWRA) project.

On May 23, 2025, the CWRA project was officially launched during a Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting held at Mahogany Hills, Barangay Ubaldo Laya. By bringing together local leaders, experts, and stakeholders, the project aims to create a comprehensive plan for managing the basin’s water resources.

The session featured informative presentations and discussions on the current state of the Agus River Basin’s water resources. Engr. Josephine R. Billones shared an overview of the CWRA project, highlighting the importance of water resource planning in maintaining a balance between environmental sustainability and community needs. Engr. Jubie M. Fortuito and others explained the river’s profile and the methods used for data collection. Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Pili M. Papandayan emphasized the importance of collaboration between national agencies, local government units, and community members.

The CWRA project is a ray of hope for the Agus River Basin’s water future. Through collaboration, the NWRB and its partners aim to ensure a sustainable water supply for both present and future generations.
