The Office of the Vice Governor (OVG), in partnership with the Provincial Peace and Development Office (PPDO) and the Raheemah Economic Hub and Development Center, conducted graduation rites for the participants of Meranaw Academy: Kalombayan sa Ranaw, held today at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall of the Provincial Capitol.
Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong expressed gratitude to the people behind Meranaw Academy, as this shall promote the preservation of the Meranaw culture. He encouraged them to continue to touch the hearts of the Meranaw youth through the program and reiterated his commitment to providing support.
Raheemah Peace Weavers Producer Cooperative Chairperson Sittie Aishah Baicon Cayongcat Nuska emphasized the program’s role in promoting the Meranaw language and the proper way of speaking it with wisdom. She said the program shall soon reach out to the torils and madrasahs.
The Meranaw Academy Program is an initiative dedicated to preserving and promoting Meranaw culture and heritage through education. Launched in 2023, the program offers a series of learning modules titled “Paninggalan: Pezinanadan ko basa, adat, taritib ago igma o Bangsa Meranaw.”
The training (Kalombayan sa Ranaw) under said program focused on deepening understanding of the Meranaw language, norms, and customary laws.
Meanwhile, the participants gave insights on the training, expressed gratitude, shared some lessons learned and takeaways, and provided suggestions to improve the training.
VG Adiong led the awarding of certificates to the participants in recognition of their active engagement, commitment, and enthusiasm throughout the training.
