On April 1, 2025, Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong convened a meeting with Executive Director of Raheema Peace Weavers Bai a Labi Sittie Aisah “Baicon” Cayongcat – Nuska, Jamel Cayamodin, and Dean Sahraman D. Hadji Latif to discuss key steps in establishing the Ranaw Halal Committee and enhancing Islamic Finance in the province of Lanao del Sur. One of the primary objectives of the meeting was to promote an ordinance or policy that would support this initiative, aimed at advancing the halal industry and bolstering the local economy.
The adoption of a local ordinance on this matter is expected to facilitate the development of the halal industry in the province, potentially opening up more opportunities for the residents.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the expansion of Islamic Finance, an economic system that adheres to Islamic principles. This includes avoiding riba (interest), gharar (uncertainty), and prohibited transactions (haram). The goal of this system is to provide fair and equitable opportunities for entrepreneurs and citizens through financial services that align with their beliefs.
According to Vice Governor Mujam Adiong, this initiative represents a significant step toward a more inclusive and resilient economy for the Ranaw community.
