On May 28, 2025, staff from the Provincial Information Office, including Admin Officer IV Abdul Mikael Balindong, Information Officer III Zhayrah Ampuan, Public Relations Officer I Mohaniza Hadjimalik, and Admin Assistant Alanis Ansari, participated in a workshop titled “AI in the Newsroom: Productivity, Ethics & Combating Misinformation.” The event was organized by PLDT-SMART in partnership with the CDO Press Club and took place at AVR 1, Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan.

This workshop aligns with PLDT-SMART’s commitment to nation-building through technology and digital literacy. Aimed at government information officers and local media practitioners, the session focused on utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for content creation, enhancing productivity, navigating ethical considerations, and tackling misinformation.

Part of the advocacy program “AI in a Box,” the initiative seeks to empower communities to effectively and responsibly harness AI. PLDT-SMART believes that this training will aid the Provincial Information Office in content development, streamline communication workflows, and ensure accuracy in information dissemination.
