Today, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited the Port of Marawi as part of a site inspection of recovery and reconstruction projects, several years after the Marawi siege. The entire project, valued at P261.5 million, includes an 8,000-square-meter backup area, a single-storey terminal building with a seating capacity of 132, a one-storey fish port, and berthing facilities for fast craft and RoRo vessels. He was accompanied by Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr.
During his visit, the President also distributed Starlink units provided for the students and teachers of Temporary Learning Spaces in Marawi City. He announced that each of the following schools would receive a Starlink unit: Bangon Elementary School, Bacarat National High School, Angoyao National High School, and Cabasaran Primary School, to improve internet access in remote areas. During the inspection, President Marcos Jr. assured the students affected by the Marawi siege that they will continue to receive educational support in a safe and conducive environment.
Further, he also inspected the 100-bed capacity General Hospital in Marawi City. According to Dr. Ali Dalidig, City Health Officer of Marawi, the hospital is expected to become operational by September.
