In a significant step towards enhancing the educational landscape, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur is actively working to establish responsive and rights-based policies for students. The Ranaw Youth Development Office (RYDO), in collaboration with various provincial offices and development partners, is spearheading the development of the Ranaw Students’ Rights and Welfare (R-STRAW) Ordinance.

A key person in this initiative is Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong. His leadership has been crucial in advancing the R-STRAW Ordinance. Vice Governor Adiong has always highlighted the need to protect student rights and make sure that every student has a safe and supportive place to learn. His dedication to this cause has brought together support from different groups, encouraging teamwork to tackle the important problems students face in the province.

This proposed ordinance aims to safeguard and promote the rights and welfare of students across educational institutions in the province. It aligns with the broader agenda of the Provincial Government focused on education and child protection. To ensure that the ordinance accurately reflects the realities of educational institutions, sectoral responsibilities, and effective strategies for creating safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments, a Stakeholder Consultation has been organized.
