Representatives from the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur (PGLDS) participated in the Lay Forum on HIV-AIDS with Islamic Context and Dua’a Gathering held this morning at the Ustadz Hashim Salamat Learning and Development Center, IPHO-LDS Main Building, New Capitol Complex, Marawi City.

The PGLDS delegation included Provincial Health Officer Dr. Princess Elham Sacar, Social Welfare Officer Sittie Janoraidah Hadjiali representing the Provincial Gender and Development Office, Mr. Abdul Ampuan of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and Ms. Norfridah Malawani, Ms. Mariam Hadji Malik, and Mr. Arham Monacala of the Provincial Information Office.

Organized by the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) of Lanao del Sur, the event was part of the observance of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2025. It aimed to honor those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses, support people living with HIV, raise community awareness on HIV and AIDS prevention, and integrate Islamic teachings into public health advocacy to reduce stigma and foster inclusive responses.

The program featured expert discussions, informative lectures, and a ceremonial du’a led by a respected Muslim religious leader, serving as a spiritual and culturally relevant alternative to the traditional candlelight memorial—promoting remembrance, healing, and solidarity.
