Marawi Connect Grand Opening Marks New Era of Digital Connectivity in LdS
Alhamdulillah! The grand opening and inauguration of Marawi Connect was held at the ground floor of Building A, Ranao Business Hub in Marawi Poblacion, Marawi City, with Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong in attendance.
Marawi Connect is a new internet service provider in the city, powered by DITO Telecommunity, the third major telecommunications provider in the Philippines. The event attracted a diverse audience, including Lanao del Sur Board Members, local chief executives, heads of Capitol offices, representatives from line agencies, as well as family and friends.
The welcome address was delivered by Mamintal “Miko” Raki-in Adiong III, Chairperson of the Board of Marawi Connect. In his speech, he expressed gratitude for the arrival of fast and reliable internet service in Marawi. He also presented a video that showcased the journey of Marawi Connect and its beginnings in the province, emphasizing that this marks the start of a new era of digital information for the region. He noted that this service encompasses not only internet connectivity but also cable connections.
A video message from Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr. was also played during the event, in which he congratulated the Board of Directors of Marawi Connect and expressed his support for the initiative.
Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong delivered an inspiring message, highlighting the importance of digital connectivity in government operations. He noted that improved internet service would expedite government services and benefit the entire community, while expressing hope for increased investment in the province.
Marawi City Mayor Shariff Zain Lanto Gandamra also attended the event, delivering a brief message in which he emphasized that this project would greatly benefit the constituents of Marawi City.
Atty. Adel Tamano, DITO’s Chief Revenue Officer for Consumer Business, expressed his gratitude for his roots as a Meranaw and stated that this initiative is his way of helping his people by providing world-class connectivity and better internet services which will open a lot of opportunities for the Meranaws, most especially in the e-commerce industry.
DITO Chief Technology Officer Rodolfo Santiago shared his excitement about returning to Marawi, expressing his desire to contribute positively to the local community.
Following the speeches, a ceremonial ribbon-cutting was conducted, successfully concluding the program and marking the official launch of Marawi Connect.
