30 farmers in Lumba Bayabao experienced significant improvements in rice productivity after participating in rice production training with a theme, “Strengthening Farmer Resilience and Productivity through Knowledge-Based Rice Farming,” held earlier today in Barangay Dialongana, Lumba Bayabao.

Led by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – PLGU Lanao Del Sur, the said training is under the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur’s flagship agricultural initiative, “Mozhor so Kawiyagan sa Ranao (MKRA),” which integrates the PalayCheck System and smart farming technologies, aimed at boosting rice yields, modernizing farming practices, and improving food security across the province.

During the training, the farmers engaged in group learning, shared discussions, and experiential learning activities that enhanced their understanding of science-based farming, rice yield and income, and ways to reduce dependency on traditional and inefficient methods.

It also included interactive sessions where participants learned to identify insect pests, beneficial insects, plant diseases, and common weeds. This field-based approach made the training both practical and engaging, allowing attendees to apply their knowledge directly on-site.

In addition to the fieldwork, participants were introduced to a mobile application for weed identification—an innovative tool that enhances real-time decision-making in the field.
