The Provincial Gender and Development (GAD) team of Lanao del Sur has returned from a transformative four-day (July 1-4, 2025) benchmarking journey aimed at bolstering protection programs and gender mainstreaming efforts across the province.
Led by PGAD Focal Person Alliah K. Lucman, along with her colleagues Salima Jasmine A. Tamano, Amanodin A. Hadji Ibrahim, Jhohanessa L. Lucman, and Sittie Janoraida Hadjiali from the PSWDO, the team gathered invaluable insights from best practices in Pangasinan, San Juan City, and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).
The team began their learning experience at Pangasinan’s Crisis Intervention Center, where they observed critical support protocols for individuals in distress. The visit underscored the importance of structured and compassionate service delivery.
In San Juan City, the team toured Bahay Pag-asa, a facility dedicated to rehabilitating Children-in-Conflict with the Law and Children-at-Risk. They also explored the Command Center of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, where they learned about tech-driven, gender-sensitive disaster response strategies.
A highlight of the journey was the visit to the PCW, where the team received expert validation on their GAD initiatives and guidance on achieving Local Learning Hub certifications. They also received the latest PCW guide manual, equipping them with essential tools for their programs.
“This journey has been transformative,” said Alliah K. Lucman. “We’re returning with actionable strategies to make Lanao del Sur a safer, more inclusive province for all.”
With newfound insights and tools, the Provincial GAD team is poised to strengthen protection programs and refine gender-responsive policies, marking a significant step towards greater gender equality and social protection in Lanao del Sur. The team expressed gratitude to all partners who shared their expertise, emphasizing that this collaboration is just the beginning of meaningful advancements in the province.
