In preparation for the 25th Gawad KALASAG Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance for Calendar Year 2025, the Office of Civil Defense – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (OCD-BARMM) spearheaded an Orientation and Cascading of the 25th Gawad KALASAG Guidelines, Tools, and Checklist on April 25, 2025, at The Loft Hotel, Iligan City.

The activity, conducted in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Lanao del Sur, brought together representatives from Local DRRM Offices across the province. The orientation aimed to familiarize participants with the updated assessment tools and submission requirements, empowering them to effectively prepare and submit entries aligned with the national standards.

This initiative is part of OCD-BARMM’s ongoing effort to promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in local DRRM governance. It also seeks to encourage greater participation from LGUs in recognizing and scaling up innovative and impactful DRRM and humanitarian efforts.

By engaging in this preparatory activity, Lanao del Sur’s LGUs and DRRM Offices reaffirm their commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness, enhancing local capacities, and striving for recognition in one of the country’s most prestigious platforms for DRRM excellence.
