The European Union (EU) – United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) co-funded project, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, successfully conducted a Workshop on Sustaining Child-Friendly Local Governance (CFLG) Initiatives from April 14 to 16, 2025, at the Country Village Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.
The workshop is a component of the EU-UNICEF-PGLDS Project entitled “Building Community Resilience and Delivery of Essential Services for Post-Conflict Recovery in Lanao del Sur and Marawi City” under Outcome 4: Local Governance. Its primary goal is to sustain and build on developmental best practices for child-centered governance, aligning these with Local Government Units’ (LGUs) priorities in the delivery of essential services, while reinforcing evidence-based decision-making, planning, and budgeting.
The three-day workshop brought together participants from various offices within the provincial government, including the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Health Office, Provincial Planning and Development Office, Ranaw Youth Development Office, Provincial Information Office, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Lanao People’s Park and Public Library, and the Office of the Governor.
Additionally, representatives from other agencies, such as the Integrated Provincial Health Office, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC), and the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE), also took part in the event.
This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of local government stakeholders to prioritize the well-being of children and adolescents in post-conflict areas—ensuring that their needs are addressed through effective governance and resource allocation.
