The Provincial Human Resource Management Office (PHRMO), headed by Ms. Azrifa Mamutuk Alonto, gathered all administrative officers and social media managers of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur for an orientation on Electioneering and Partisan Political Activity and Social Media Ethics held this afternoon at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol.
Ms. Alonto said the orientation aimed to raise awareness about electioneering and counter misinformation on social media. She added it is important to talk about social media ethics because almost everyone engages online.
Atty. Jamela Johaira Abdulhalim of the Provincial Legal Services Office (PLSO) said according to CSC and COMELEC Joint Memorandum Circular No. 001, series of 2016, the electioneering is an act designed to promote the election or defeat of a particular candidate or party to public office. She highlighted the prohibited and allowed activities stated in said memorandum as well as penalties for electioneering.
The social media ethics were run through by Local Legislative Staff Officer III Abubacar Basman, who delved into challenges on boosting official Facebook pages, current trends, and existing segments of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s Media Team.
