Members of the Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC) convened earlier today at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol for the 1st quarterly meeting, marking a significant step in the province’s efforts to enhance nutrition programs and align with national health strategies.

The meeting underscored Lanao del Sur’s commitment to improving nutrition outcomes through strategic planning and collaboration among various government departments and stakeholders.

It was officially called to order by Presiding Officer, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Abdul Qahhar R. Barambangan, who also facilitated the approval of the agenda. The roll call and declaration of quorum were conducted by Nurse V Nurhanisa S. Carima of the Provincial Health Office-Lanao del Sur (PHO-LDS).

Key topics included the presentation of Memorandum Circular Nos. 057 and 2024-071 on the “Adoption and Implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023–2028.” The discussion was led by Local Government Operations Officer IV Janirah Tago of MILG-LDS, emphasizing the alignment of local efforts with national nutrition goals.

The council also reviewed and approved the updates to the Provincial Nutrition Action Plan, adjusting its coverage from 2025–2027 to 2026–2028.

Barambangan emphasized the importance of aligning the province’s plans with national and local development strategies. He added the council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening multi-sectoral coordination and local government engagement in nutrition governance, signaling a proactive start to 2025 in the province’s fight against malnutrition.

An open forum allowed stakeholders to provide insights and suggestions for enhancing nutrition strategies in the province. The meeting concluded with a unified commitment to advancing nutrition efforts for the people of Lanao del Sur.
