In a continued effort to empower local farmers, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) successfully conducted another training session on Rice Production through PalayCheck and Smart Farming Strategies as part of its flagship program, Mozhor so Kawiyagan sa Ranao (MKRA). The training took place in Barangay Bansayan, Bubong, Lanao del Sur, on July 26,2025.

The event brought together 35 rice farmers from the barangays of Bansayan, Diolangan, Dalaon, Polayagan, and Batangan. Participants actively engaged in several key activities, including:

– Pre-test and post-test assessments on rice production knowledge

– On-site field visits to identify pest infestations and disease-affected crops

– A cost and returns analysis workshop to evaluate farm productivity and profitability

During the training, farmers openly discussed the challenges they face in rice production, with rodent infestations emerging as a primary concern. The OPAg staff acknowledged these issues and emphasized the importance of addressing them.

The OPAg extends its sincere gratitude to the Barangay Local Government Unit of Brgy. Bansayan, under the leadership of Hon. Kharima T. Pundato, for their warm hospitality and support in hosting the training.

This initiative reflects the Provincial Government’s ongoing commitment to empowering rice farmers by equipping them with practical knowledge and sustainable farming strategies to enhance productivity and improve their livelihoods.
