Following the success of the Modern Rice Production Technology Demonstration Farm in Taraka, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (PLGU-OPAg), continues to monitor these rice farming activities under the Mozhor so Kawiayagan sa Ranao (MKRA) Program. A recent field visit to the rice techno-demo area showed that, while some portions remain uncultivated due to limited water sources, many farmers are actively working on rice crop establishment. During the visit, farmers raised their concerns about these water limitations affecting their planting schedules and yields. In response, PLGU-OPAg assured them of continued technical assistance and support to help address these challenges.
Meanwhile, in Brgy. Rantian, Ditsaan-Ramain, farmers remain hopeful despite setbacks. They shared their difficulties, noting that their current rice harvest yielded less than half of last season’s due to missed fertilizer applications and rat infestations. The Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur is closely coordinating with these farmers to provide practical solutions and guidance, aiming to help them recover from production losses, improve farm management, and build resilience against future threats.
