The second quarterly meeting of the Economic Sector took place today at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Social Hall, New Capitol, Marawi City, presided over by Provincial Tourism Officer Ahmad Nur-al-dinn Tamano. The meeting commenced with a review of the previous session, where Provincial Administrator Juraira Alonto provided insights on the proposed Feasibility Study on Food Terminal to be conducted by the Mindanao State University (MSU).

Attended by its members, the agenda began with an update on the construction of the Food Terminal located at Barangay Inudaran, Marantao, presented by Engr. Sittie Norhafisa Camama. The presentation included a detailed location map and an overview of the Food Terminal’s features, which include:

– Wet and Dry Supermarket

– Livestock Building

– Cold Storage Building

– Streetlights

– Water System

– Site Development

– Parking Pavement

– Catch Basin

– Road Network

– Drainage

– Sidewalk

– Fence

Engr. Camama also showcased the floor plan of the Wet and Dry Supermarket and provided actual photos of the ongoing construction. Members raised several concerns regarding the terminal, notably the establishment of a halal slaughterhouse. As of now, the physical completion of the Food Terminal stands at 21.80%, with a target completion date set for November 3, 2025.

Additionally, members of the economic sector who participated in a benchmarking visit shared key insights from their trip to the Tanauan Batangas Public Market, focusing on best practices and innovative solutions. Ms. Monalyn Ampuan from the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO) presented findings from their benchmarking visit to Quezon City. She provided a brief background of the city and its successful economic initiatives, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in fostering growth. The discussions highlighted the need for ongoing collaboration between local government units and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of these projects.

Furthermore, the meeting concluded with a commitment to enhance the economic landscape of the province through collaborative efforts and strategic planning.
