Organized by the European Union Bangsamoro Agri-Enterprise Program – Creating REsponsible Sustainable ENTerprises (EU BAEP-CRESCENT) Project in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism of BARMM (MTIT-BARMM), the two-day training aimed to equip coffee farmers, processors, and local stakeholders with foundational skills in evaluating the quality of green coffee beans, identifying flavor notes, and applying cupping techniques. With around 35 to 40 participants from Lanao del Surβs growing coffee industry, this activity is part of a broader effort to boost the regionβs coffee value chain. Through hands-on learning, participants gained the ability to:
Identify defects and imperfections in green coffee beans
Understand coffee fragrance, aroma, taste, and flavor
Apply proper cupping and sensory evaluation techniques
This initiative supports the goal of enhancing the competitiveness and market potential of Lanao del Surβs local coffeeβlaying the groundwork for a more sustainable, high-quality coffee industry in the province.
PLGU-OPAg would like to thank the EU BAEP-CRESCENT and MTIT-BARMM for this valuable opportunity, and we remain committed to supporting our farmers toward inclusive agricultural development in Lanao.
