n response to the request of the 55th Infantry “Vigilant” Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, Philippine Army, the Provincial Government of Lanao Del Sur, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, conducted training on vegetable production practices and management in support of the battalionβs initiative to establish an Integrated Farming System.
The primary objective of the training was to enhance the knowledge and technical skills of the battalionβs personnel, including troops, CAFGU members, and former rebels, in sustainable agricultural practices. This initiative is part of their commitment to achieving food security, environmental conservation, and economic sustainability within their community.
The training covered key topics such as proper vegetable production techniques, farm management practices, and the preparation of organic concoctions and foliar fertilizers, which were demonstrated on-site. A total of eighteen (18) CAFGU members successfully completed the training.
As part of the support provided, participants were also given vegetable seeds to encourage the immediate application of their newly acquired knowledge and skills. In addition, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials on vegetable production were distributed to reinforce the learning and serve as reference materials for future farming activities.
This collaborative effort reflects the shared vision of empowering communities through agriculture and supporting the holistic development of the battalionβs integrated farm for long-term sustainability and livelihood improvement. The Provincial Government remains committed to supporting such initiatives, particularly in broadening knowledge on agriculture and sustainability to further strengthen community resilience and economic growth.
