The Provincial Government of Lanao Del Sur, through the Ranaw Youth Development Office (RYDO), in partnership with MARADECA and UNICEF Philippines, successfully conducted a Youth Conversation on February 21, 2025, at the Provincial Tennis Court, New Capitol Complex, Marawi City. Participants from various municipalities across Lanao del Sur gathered to discuss pressing issues, voice concerns, and contribute to youth-driven development initiatives. This Youth Conversation served as a vital platform for young people to engage in dialogue, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes. The insights gathered from workshops and discussions will help shape policies and programs, making the Ranaw Youth Development Plan 2026-2028 more inclusive and effective in addressing youth-related challenges. The event began with opening remarks from Mr. Jeff Adiong, who welcomed participants and encouraged them to speak up, emphasizing the importance of their contributions. Mr. Abubakar Basman, representing Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong, reaffirmed the office’s unwavering support for youth programs, a commitment that has been consistent since 2019 in partnership with the office of former SKPPP Jamil Faisal S. Adiong, now the head of RYDO, in developing youth development initiatives. Before the workshops commenced, Mr. Mohamadan Abdulkasan from UNICEF Philippines provided a brief yet essential discussion on Child Protection Policy. He outlined reporting mechanisms for child-related concerns, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding youth participants in all activities. Participants engaged in dynamic discussions, workshops, and training sessions focused on identifying community challenges, envisioning positive change, and formulating actionable solutions. These conversations strengthened youth empowerment, promoting peace, development, and inclusivity in Lanao del Sur. The Ranaw Youth Development Office extends its heartfelt gratitude to Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong for his unwavering commitment to youth initiatives. We also appreciate our partners, MARADECA and UNICEF Philippines, for their invaluable support in making this event a success.
